Membership to the congregation is open to any person who is halachically Jewish. A membership form has to be completed and submitted to the Administration office. The membership has to be approved by the Rabbi of the Congregation, which is then sent to the Gabay’s Committee for assessing of the annual finta (annual subscription).

Members (who are taxpayers) can pay their Finta, as well as any donations, however large or small, under the GIFT AID Declaration Scheme. You must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that the charity reclaims on your finta/donations in the tax year. If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief in your Self Assessment tax return.

By making a single payment known as Finta Beth Haim (FBH), members will be entitled to a much reduced funeral charge when the time comes. The payment covers men, women and children under the age of 19. It is assessed according to the age of the principal member of the Household. The benefit of this payment is effective as long as paid membership to the congregation is maintained.
Any person joining the congregation over the age of 70 will not be entitled to reduced burial fees, including the single grave supplement and the Hoop Lane levy.
To be buried at Hoop Lane Cemetery, there is an additional levy fee payable on top of the basic funeral charges, details of which can be obtained by contacting the office.
