Sephardi Beth Din

The Sephardi Beth Din (Court of Jewish Law), serves the UK Sephardi community.

The Beth Din (Court of Jewish Law) deals with:

  1. Marriage Authorisations
    Verifying that the prospective marriage does not contravene Jewish Religious Law.
  2. Religious divorce
    Effecting the issuance of a GET (Bill of Divorce) from the husband to the wife in the event of the marriage having broken down irretrievably.
  3. Din Torah
    (Torah Law). Adjudicating civil, domestic, financial disputes, including probate – between observant litigants, according to Jewish Law.
  4. Regularisation Of Status
    Determining Jewish descent in cases where such a claim has been questioned.
  5. Conversions
    Processing approved applicants for this purpose from initial approach to final Conversion Ceremony when successful.
  6. Responsa
    Issuing RESPONSA to Halachic (Torah Law) enquiries from communal bodies affecting Synagogal matters – collectively or individually.
  7. Burials
    Resolving any problem related to congregational cemeteries, funeral services and interment of deceased.
  8. Sephardi Kashrut Authority
    Oversees the work of this body which licenses kosher caterers, restaurants and manufacturers of kosher food products for Passover and all year round use. (For further information, please follow this link).
