Sephardi Historic Cemeteries

The S&P Sephardi Community maintains a number of historic Sephardi Cemeteries in London. This includes the Velho Cemetery which is on the site of Queen Mary’s College in the Mile End area of London.

Visits to the Velho Cemetery

Please do not show up without a booking. You will not be allowed access by the security staff. Any forced entry will be treated as trespass as well as a ‘Hillul Hashem’.

To arrange a visit to the Velho Cemetery, please email Barry at [email protected] stating the day you would like to visit and the names of everyone in your group.

Visits can only take place on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and we need 48 hours notice.

The only exception to this is on the nahala (yartzeit) of Rabbi Raphael Meldola on 21st day of the Jewish month of Sivan when the cemetery is open to visitors without booking.
