Prof. Perelis will explore the lines connecting Conversos and Western Sephardim in the early modern atlantic world. In particular we will look at how families could comprise devout Catholics, passionate crypto-Jews and committed Sephardim and the role that international commerce and Inquisitorial persecution played in shaping the identity and vibrancy of the Naçao.
