David Sclar is a Research Fellow with the Center for Jewish Studies at Harvard University. He has published widely on Jewish religious life in early modern Italy and the Dutch Republic, and as held fellowships at Princeton University, the University of Oxford, the University of Toronto, and New York University. His research explores individual intention, communal identities, the use of books, and the relationship between intellectual and social history. He is finishing a monograph on the Italian kabbalist Moses Hayim Luzzatto and preparing a book on the development of Western Sephardic ritual and the history of the Ets Haim Yesiba.
