Author Event & Literary Tea: The History Behind ‘The Weight of Ink’

Bevis Marks Synagogue will host an afternoon exploring the truth behind the fiction.
With Dr Aviva Dautch, Rabbi Morris and the author Rachel Kadish via video stream from America.

Rachel Kadish’s historical novel, set in the City of London following the Readmission of the Jews, won a National Jewish Book Award. For those who have read it, and those who haven’t but would like to find out more, Bevis Marks Synagogue will host an afternoon exploring the truth behind the fiction.

3.00 – 3.30pm Arrival. A chance to tour the Sanctuary and discover the oldest Synagogue in the UK

3.30pm Rabbi Shalom Morris on ‘Menasseh Ben Israel, Sasportas and Spinoza: Reflecting on the Readmission’

Tea Break

4.30pm Dr Aviva Dautch on ‘Shakespeare and the Jews’

5:00pm Q&A with author Rachel Kadish (streamed from the USA)
