Urgent Finta Appeal

You would have seen that we recently sent out the Finta renewal letters, which included suggested voluntary donations.

Whilst we appreciate that for many of you this is a time of uncertainty and concern, we are asking you all, if you are able to, please support our Kahal by making your finta payment, and if possible, please consider supporting above the suggested donation amount. If you have already done so, thank you so much and please know how much this is appreciated by everyone who we support.

With diminishing financial reserves and pressure to cover our operating costs, including ongoing repairs to our buildings, the Board has decided, out of necessity, to increase all Finta rates by 5%, with the exclusion of junior rates.

Although we continue to pursue cost saving measures, Finta remains a crucial source of income to enable us to continue to offer regular services and the variety of communal activities. We are also absolutely reliant on your voluntary contribution and we have included a suggested minimum donation.

Please note that the proceeds from Finta only covers less than a third of the Community’s running costs.

As mentioned last year, in light of the increased external threat level, we have continued to maintain, and periodically heighten, the provision of security services across our synagogues. Although we have crucial funding support from CST, this is mainly assigned to Bevis Marks and by no means covers the total cost. Therefore, we strongly ask that you consider the voluntary security contribution so that essential security is provided for the safety of everyone in our Community.

Under the Gift Aid scheme, the Synagogue is able to reclaim the tax paid on donations (25%) from HMRC on all your donations if you are a UK taxpayer – meaning that your donations go further at no extra cost to yourself. If you have already completed a Gift Aid form, thank you.
