The hymn Bendigamos – composed in Spanish – is sung by many families either immediately before or immediately after the Grace After Meals. The text is a summary of the Grace. The melody is a variant of the Shira – the Song of the Sea – one of the oldest chants in the Jewish tradition, and wholly appropriate for this song of thanksgiving for the sustenance we have received.
