Relationship Fundraising and Membership Development Manager

25 hours per week over 4 days £28-31K  (FTE £ 40-45K) commensurate with experience

About the role

As the Relationship Fundraising and Membership Development manager you will lead the S&P Sephardi community’s strategy to build strong and productive relationships with existing and new donors as well as work closely with the CEO on a membership strategy that supports and strengthens current members and creates opportunities for new members to join the S&P Sephardi community. You will need to ensure that you offer excellent levels of communication; fundraising guidance; suitably recognise donor contributions; and demonstrate the impact of their support on the growth and development of the S&P Sephardi community.

There will also be a requirement for some flexibility and out of hours working to support occasional evening and weekend activity.

1. Develop appropriate fundraising campaigns and initiatives in conjunction with the fundraising committee and Board of Elders including annual Kal Nidre and other appeals
2. Maintain and oversee a fundraising database to include the identification and professional nurturing of high net worth donors
3. Produce a case for support for the S&P Sephardi Community with corresponding costings of individual projects
4. Coordinate the approach to prospective donors and manage correspondence liaising with the Board, Ecclesiastical Team and other foundations associated with the S&P Sephardi community.
5. Researching and approaching key trusts for grant proposals – write and present proposals
6. Create and implement a legacy campaign
7. Administer the fundraising element of any dinner or events that are organised
8. Record, monitor and report on the financial progress of fundraising campaigns
9. To be present at key funding events where possible and appropriate

Membership Development

1. Relaunch a membership strategy for young professionals who are children of current members to join the community coordinating with the rabbinical team and the Young S&P committee
2. Develop and implement a range of innovative membership models including a launch programme and annual membership recruitment targets in conjunction with the CEO and relevant Trustees
3. Ensure each model has a corresponding detailed membership package
4. Monitor membership demographics and use relevant data to inform membership development strategy

Communications

1. Work with the CEO, Board and Ecclesiastical team to develop an effective communication strategy
2. Oversee the development and implementation of a user friendly, informative and up to date website that serves all the 3 synagogues and as a portal to the Sephardi world.
3. Develop annual Kahal publications – either online or hard copy (as agreed by the Board) to develop a sense of community e.g. calendar, magazine, which can also be used to engage fundraisers and other key stakeholders

Management

1. Lead the Marketing, Communications and Community Engagement team
2. Line manage the Marketing & Communications and the Community Engagement coordinators.
3. Work closely with the CEO and the Community Support Manager to ensure the development of a highly effective team serving the S&P Sephardi Community and its supporters.
4. Contribute to and support the overall ethos of the S&P Sephardi Community.

• The ability to place our supporters at the heart of everything you do by cultivating and stewarding relationships to deliver a first-class experience.
• Demonstrable success in fundraising and meeting targets
• Experience working in a membership based organisation (desirable)
• Experience of working in or knowledge of the Jewish community (desirable)
• Strong planning and organisational skills to deal with the variety of challenges the role brings.
• Experience in leading a small team
• A positive, proactive, hands on approach
• Strong written and oral communication and influencing skills to enable you to engage, inspire and deliver key messages.
• Experience of working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders
